Memphis 38, Army 10

MEMPHIS, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Danny Wimprine passed for 216 yards and a touchdown and DeAngelo Williams rushed for 110 yards and two scores on just 10 carries Saturday as Memphis stormed past Army, 38-10, in a Conference USA contest.

Last week, Army (1-10, 1-7) beat Tulane to become the last Division I-A team to record its first win of the season.

The Cadets were tied with the Tigers (3-6, 2-6) at the intermission, but Memphis scored 24 unanswered points in the second half.

The Tigers took the lead for good, 17-10, on Williams' 59-yard run with 12:03 left in the third quarter, then made it 24-10 on Wimprine's 10-yard strike to Tavares Gideon six minutes later.

Memphis pulled away in the fourth quarter on touchdown runs of one yard by Dante Brown and 12 yards by Williams.

The Tigers rolled up 434 yards of total offense while holding the Cadets to just 167.

Army was limited to just 44 yards on the ground while Reggie Nevels completed seven of 15 passes for 86 yards.
