Atlanta 4, Florida 3 (OT)

ATLANTA, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Shawn McEachern scored a power-play goal with 97 seconds left in overtime Tuesday night as the Atlanta Thrashers rallied for their fifth win in eight games, a 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers.

Newly acquired Marc Savard started the play, sending Vyacheslav Kozlov and McEachern in 2-on-1 down the right side. McEachern got a feed from Kozlov and put a one-timer past Roberto Luongo for his sixth goal of the season.

Atlanta had the extra man when defenseman Ivan Majeski was penalized for holding the stick 2:38 into overtime.

Moments before the game-winner, Olli Jokinen - who scored a pair of shorthanded goals for the Panthers - took a shot from the slot that bounced off the chest of goaltender Pasi Nurminen.

Nurminen's days appear numbered, however, after the Thrashers announced during the game they have reached agreement with free agent goaltender Byron Dafoe on what is believed to be a multi-year contract.

Patrik Stefan put a wrist shot through Luongo's pads from the right side with 6:16 remaining in regulation to forge a 3-3 tie as Florida failed to hold on to a pair of two-goal leads.

Yuri Butsayev stretched in front of the net to swipe the puck past Luongo late in the second period to get Atlanta within 3-2.

Jokinen's goals were unassisted breakaways. On the first, the former first-round draft pick put the puck between Nurminen's pads. Jokinen put the second over the goalie's right shoulder.
