Los Angeles 4, Edmonton 1

EDMONTON, Alberta, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Mike Cammalleri scored his first NHL goal late in the second period to snap a tie Saturday night and lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Losers of three straight and five of six, the Kings found themselves in an early hole when defenseman Janne Niinimaa scored at 4:44 of the first period to give Edmonton a 1-0 lead. But after Ian Laperriere drew Los Angeles even less than four minutes later, the 20-year-old Cammalleri sent the Kings into the final period with the advantage.

Selected in the second round of the 2001 draft, Cammalleri took a feed at the right side of the net from Brad Chartrand and tapped it past goaltender Tommy Salo with 83 seconds to go in the second period for his first goal in five NHL games.

Defenseman Jaroslav Modry and Ziggy Palffy added third-period goals and Felix Potvin made 17 saves for the Kings, who improved to 2-3

1 on an eight-game road trip.

The loss ended a modest two-game winning streak for Edmonton, which had won three of its previous four contests.
