Phoenix 4, Minnesota 1

PHOENIX, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Shane Doan scored twice in a three-goal opening period Thursday night and linemate Landon Wilson added a goal and two assists as the Phoenix Coyotes exacted some revenge by handing the Minnesota Wild their first road loss of the season, 4-1.

On Oct. 26, Minnesota scored three times in the first period and coasted to a 6-1 rout at America West Arena. But the opening 20 minutes belonged to Phoenix in this one as it won for the third time in four games.

Doan got things going at 6:07 and Wilson made it 2-0 at 14:55, just over two minutes before Doan capped the Coyotes' first multi-goal game of the season.

Claude Lemieux padded the lead in the third period and Brian Boucher came within 9:37 of his first shutout in a Phoenix uniform.

Pascal Dupuis was credited with the lone goal for the Wild, who fell to 3-1-2 away from home.
