Ottawa 5, Colorado 2

DENVER, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa recorded a hat trick and Daniel Alfredsson had three points to extend his scoring streak to 10 games Wednesday night as the Ottawa Senators produced a 5-2 triumph over the Colorado Avalanche.

In the 800th game in franchise history, Ottawa grabbed the lead 2:46 into the first period when Hossa converted a give-and-go with Radek Bonk to give the Senators a power-play goal in nine straight contests.

While leading by a goal, Hossa scored again on the power play with 23 seconds remaining in the second to make it 4-2.

The 23-year-old Slovakian completed his second career hat trick with an empty-netter late in the third, his first even-strength point of the season.

Patrick Lalime turned aside 36 shots for Ottawa, which gained its second win in seven road games against the Avalanche and 15 against the franchise that relocated from Quebec in 1995.
