Oregon 41, Stanford 14

EUGENE, Ore., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Jason Fife threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as the 16th-ranked Oregon Ducks avoided a third straight loss with a 41-14 Pac-10 Conference rout of Stanford.

Oregon (7-2, 3-2 Pac-10) was shredded for 89 points in losses to Arizona State and Southern California in seeing its hopes for a second straight conference crown take a serious hit. But the Ducks built a 28-0 lead after one quarter and easily avenged a defeat to the lone team they lost to a year ago.

Fife led three scoring drives of 67 yards or more in the first quarter and gave Oregon a 14-0 lead with touchdown passes of one yard to Tim Day and five yards to tight end George Wrighster.

Wrighster capped a six-play, 67-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown plunge to make it 21-0 and Ducks defensive back Keith Lewis picked off Stanford's Ryan Ecklund on the next possession. Two players later, Fife scored up the middle from one yard out with 40 seconds to go in the first.

Stanford (2-6, 1-4) fell to 0-5 on the road this season and lost at Autzen Stadium for just the second time in six games.
