OXFORD, Miss., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Travaris Robinson intercepted Eli Manning in the back of the end zone with less than two minutes remaining Saturday, allowing Auburn to hold on for a 31-24 Southeastern Conference triumph over Mississippi.
Robinson, who picked off a pass on Auburn's eight and returned it 64 yards in an upset win over then-No. 10 LSU last week, intercepted Manning on third and seven from the Auburn 10 with just 1:32 to play. The Tigers then ran out the clock, handing the Rebels a third straight defeat.
Ronnie Brown rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns for Auburn in his second start in place of the injured Carnell "Cadillac" Williams.
Brown's third score came on a 21-yard run with 3:06 remaining in the third quarter and his team behind, 17-16. After Jason Campbell completed a two-point conversion pass to Tre Smith to give the Tigers a 24-17 advantage, the quarterback connected on a 20-yard touchdown toss to Ben Obomanu 58 seconds in to the fourth quarter.
Manning got the Rebels within seven points on an eight-yard pass to Chris Collins with 11:17 to go, but neither team scored thereafter.
Campbell was 11 of 21 for 113 yards and one touchdown without an interception. Auburn (6-3, 4-2 SEC West) posted its second straiht victory after back-to-back losses to Arkansas and at Florida in overtime.
The Tigers outgained the Rebels (5-4, 2-3 West) on the ground, 254-74.
Manning was 26 of 46 for 284 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. All three touchdown passes went to Chris Collins, who caught eight balls for 106 yards.
The Tigers have won nine of their last 10 meetings with the Rebels and 18 of 20.
