Sacramento 94; Cleveland 67

SACRAMENTO, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Peja Stojakovic scored 17 points and Chris Webber grabbed 14 rebounds Tuesday night as the Sacramento Kings cruised to a season-opening 94-67 rout of the shorthanded Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Kings fashioned the NBA's best home record at 36-5 last season, but opted to wear their new purple road jerseys with "Sacramento" on the chest. They also unveiled a banner for winning the Pacific Division last season before the game.

Sacramento opened a 44-32 halftime advantage by limiting Cleveland to just 28 percent shooting (11-of-38) in the first 24 minutes. A basket by Hedo Turkoglu triggered a 12-4 run in the third quarter that gave the Kings a commanding 66-42 bulge.

Ricky Davis scored 17 points and Darius Miles, who made just 6-of-22 shots in his Claveland debut, had 13 for the Cavaliers, who were held to their lowest point total in a season opener.

The Cavaliers were without center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who was serving a one-game suspension for a DUI incident.

Also, assistant coach Jerry Eaves served as coach with head coach John Lucas sitting out the first of a two-game ban for illegally working out high school players, including potential top draft pick LeBron James, a high school All-American from Akron, Ohio.
