Louisville 44, East Carolina 20

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Dave Ragone threw five touchdown passes Saturday as Louisville rebounded from its first Conference USA loss with a 44-20 victory over East Carolina.

Ragone completed 23 of 32 passes for 352 yards. He moved past Chris Redman for second place on the school's all-time completions list with 584 and helped the Cardinals bounce back from last week's loss to TCU.

Ragone, who threw three touchdowns against East Carolina last season, connected with J.R. Russell and Damien Dorsey for scoring strikes of 30 and 10 yards that staked the Cardinals (5-3, 3-1) to a 14-10 lead after one quarter.

Dorsey caught two more touchdown passes from Ragone in the second quarter that extended the advantage to 28-10. The 5-7 senior wide receiver had nine catches for 158 yards.

The Cardinals also got a pair of rushing touchdowns from Henry Miller, who had 18 carries for 127 yards after being held to 24 during last week's 45-31 loss to TCU. Miller's eight-yard run gave Louisville a 35-3 advantage with 12:01 remaining in the third period.

Ragone capped his big day with 3:27 remaining when he connected with Joshua Tinch for a 32-yard strike.

Louisville had 556 total yards, while East Carolina (2-5, 2-1) had 297. East Carolina's Paul Troth completed 14 of 36 passes for 211 yards.
