Georgia Tech 23, Virginia 15

ATLANTA, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- A.J. Suggs completed 26 of 41 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown and freshman P.J. Daniels carried 21 times for 98 yards and a score Saturday as Georgia Tech fought off Virginia, 23-15.

The Cavaliers (6-3, 4-2) registered their sixth straight win last Saturday, when they rallied from a 21-point deficit to pull out a 37-27 triumph over North Carolina for the second biggest comeback in school history.

Virginia fell behind against the Yellow Jackets, 23-0, and mounted another comeback only to have it come up short.

Matt Schaub started Virginia's rally, capping a seven-play, 72-yard drive with a 12-yard pass to freshman fullback Jason Snelling just over 3 1/2 minutes into the second half.

Schaub added an eight-yard touchdown run and the ensuing two-point conversion to pull Virginia within 23-15 with 2:58 left. But the Cavaliers got no closer as the Yellow Jackets (5-3, 2-3 ACC) snapped a two-game skid.

Daniels had a one-yard touchdown run less than three minutes into the contest and Suggs hit receiver Kerry Watkins for a 12-yard score with 2:46 left in the half.

Luke Manget also kicked three field goals as the Yellow Jackets entered the locker room with a 23-0 lead.

It was a showdown between schools led by former NFL coaches. Georgia Tech's Chan Gailey once coached the Dallas Cowboys and Virginia's Al Groh used to guide the New York Jets.
