Minnesota 3, Chicago 2

CHICAGO, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Andrew Brunette scored twice in the third period Thursday night to propel the Minnesota Wild to their first road victory of the season, 3-2 over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Brunette broke a 1-1 tie at 10:07 of the third period with a power-play goal, converting a perfect feed from Cliff Ronning. Goaltender Jocelyn Thibault committed to Ronning, who faked a shot, leaving Brunette waiting for the feed with a wide-open goal.

The winger scored again four minutes later when Jim Dowd fed a streaking Brunette, who faked a backhander and beat Thibault to extend Minnesota's lead to 3-1.

Dwayne Roloson kept the Blackhawks off the board for two periods, but teammate Wes Walz inadvertently kicked the puck into the net as he attempted to clear Phil Housley's initial shot on goal.

Sergei Berezin tried to redirect the shot in the slot and was credited with a goal at 3:26 of the third, tying the game at 1-1.

Roloson turned aside 24 shots and survived a late flurry to earn his first win.
