Texas Tech 52, Missouri 38

LUBBOCK, Texas, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Kliff Kingsbury became the first player in Big 12 Conference history to have a 500-yard passing game Saturday night as Texas Tech defeated Missouri, 52-38.

Kingsbury broke his own conference record, completing 49 of 70 passes for 510 yards. He set the previous mark against Texas A&M on Oct. 5 with 474 yards, surpassing the old record of 465 set by Colorado's Mike Moschetti in 1999.

Kingsbury also tied his own Big 12 record for completions and broke his own school record by throwing five touchdowns passes, increasing his season total to 28.

By becoming the first 500-yard passer in Big 12 history, Kingsbury also became the 20th quarterback in NCAA history to surpass 10,000 career passing yards. He is now 16th on the all-time list with 10,328 yards.

In the first quarter, Kingsbury connected with Anton Paige and Neh Glover for scoring strikes of 13 and 35 yards respectively, which gave the Red Raiders (5-3, 2-1 Big 12 South) a 14-10 lead.

Glover caught two more touchdowns in the second half and Clay McGuire hauled in a six-yard touchdown to cap the scoring for Texas Tech.

Redshirt freshman Taurean Henderson had touchdown runs of seven and 10 yards for Texas Tech, which accumulated 618 total yards.

Missouri (3-4, 0-3 Big 12 North) stayed with the Red Raiders for most of the first half. The Tigers tied the game at 17-17 when T.J. Leon scored from six yards out with 8:55 left in the first half.

But Texas Tech scored three straight touchdowns and held a 38-17 before the Tigers found the end zone again.

Missouri's Brad Smith, who entered the game second in the Big 12 with an average of 302.8 yards per game, completed 20 of 32 passes for 275 yards.

Justin Gage had touchdowns of 53 and 24 yards and finished with five catches for 114 yards.
