BUFFALO, N.Y., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Pavel Bure's power-play goal with 8:51 remaining in the third period Thursday night lifted the New York Rangers into a 4-4 tie with the Buffalo Sabres, who did all of their scoring in the second period.
Bure has 15 goals and nine assists in 14 games since being acquired by the Rangers from the Florida Panthers. He had two goals in Tuesday night's 5-4 win over Toronto after missing the first three contests of this season with strep throat.
Special teams dominated the wide-open affair as the Rangers scored three power-play goals and the Sabres two. Both teams continued to get excellent chances in overtime.
Held without a shot in his first three games of the season, Eric Lindros had a pair of power-play goals 26 seconds apart late in the first period to give New York a 2-0 lead. Both goals came while the Sabres were down two men after Rob Ray was assessed a double-minor for elbowing and picked up an additional penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
But Miroslav Satan's second goal of the second period gave Buffalo a 4-3 lead with 3:59 remaining.
Dan Blackburn made 24 saves in his first start of the season, helping the Rangers extend their unbeaten streak against Buffalo to five games (3
2). Martin Biron turned aside 32 shots for the Sabres.
