Virginia 27, Duke 22

DURHAM, N.C., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Virginia posted its fourth straight win Saturday as Matt Schaub passed for 315 yards and a touchdown in a 27-22 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over Duke.

Schaub, who completed 27 of 45 passes, gave Virginia (3-2, 1-1 ACC) the lead for good at 20-13 when he tossed an 18-yard pass to Jason Snelling with 12:16 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Virginia prevailed despite being held to two yards rushing. Wali Lundy was the leading rusher for the Cavaliers, gaining just 14 yards on five carries.

The Blue Devils (2-3, 0-1) closed to 20-16 on Brent Garber's 20-yard field goal with 8:04 remaining, but the Cavaliers answered on Alvin Pearlman's two-yard run with 4:26 to go.

Duke's Adam Smith tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Khary Sharpe with 2:53 left to complete the scoring.

Virginia, which rallied from a 17-point deficit to defeat Wake Forest, 38-34, last week, erased a 13-6 deficit to beat Duke.

The Cavaliers tied the contest on Lundy's one-yard run with 25 seconds left in the first half.

Smith completed 26 of 46 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns for the Blue Devils while Chris Douglas rushed for 126 yards on 23 carries.

Virginia has won 16 of the last 20 meetings with Duke to tie the all-time series at 20 wins apiece.
