BOSTON, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- The Boston Red Sox shook up their staff Friday, announcing that hitting coach Dwight Evans, first base coach Tommy Harper and bullpen coach Bob Kipper will not be offered contracts for next season.
The team also said that bench coach Mike Stanley has decided not to return due to "personal and family reasons," but that pitching coach Tony Cloninger and third base coach Mike Cubbage will be back.
According to Boston's release, the team has "begun the process of making changes to the major league coaching staff."
The team will discuss a continued role within the organization for Evans, "given his place in Red Sox history and his significant contribution to the Red Sox as a player" from 1972-90. Evans is a member of the team's Hall of Fame.
