Montreal 6, Florida 5

MIAMI, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Vladimir Guerrero's RBI infield single in the top of the sixth inning snapped a tie Thursday night and the Montreal Expos extended their winning streak to six games with a 6-5 victory over the Florida Marlins.

Before the game, Florida owner Jeffrey Loria - who used to own the Expos - announced that Manager Jeff Torborg will return next season. Loria brought Torborg with him from Montreal and Torborg's .477 winning percentage is the best in Marlins history.

With the game tied, 5-5, Jamey Carroll drew a two-out walk and raced to third on Jose Vidro's single off reliever Gary Knotts (2-1). Guerrero followed with a routine grounder to third baseman Mike Lowell.

Replays showed that Lowell's throw barely beat Guerrero, but first base umpire Angel Hernandez called him safe.

Starter Bartolo Colon (10-3) got the win, despite allowing five runs and nine hits in five innings.
