SUNRISE, Fla., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Florida Panthers defenseman Paul Laus will miss a "significant portion" of the upcoming season after undergoing wrist surgery Tuesday night.
Laus, who is third in franchise history with 530 games played, had surgery to his right wrist in Philadelphia.
According to the team, Laus is "out indefinitely and is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2002-03 season."
Laus has spent his entire nine-year career with Florida. Only 23 active NHL players have longer tenures with their current teams. Known more for his fighting, he has 14 goals, 58 assists and 1,702 penalty minutes during his career.
