Chi. Cubs 6, Cincinnati 0

CINCINNATI, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Sammy Sosa and Bobby Hill each smacked three-run homers and Carlos Zambrano scattered six hits over seven innings Sunday to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 6-0 triumph over the Cincinnati Reds.

Sosa broke up a scoreless game with one out in the eighth inning with his 46th home run, a shot off reliever Scott Sullivan. He snapped a none-for-nine slump and moved within four homers of 500 for his career.

The slugger raised his RBI total to 102, becoming just the third National League player with eight consecutive 100-RBI seasons, joining Hall of Famers Mell Ott and Willie Mays.

Sosa, who had not driven in a run in his previous three games, became just the second player in major league history to have eight straight seasons with at least 35 homers and 100 RBI. Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx did it nine years in a row from 1932-1940.

Sullivan (6-5) also surrendered Hill's third home run in the ninth. He gave up all six runs and five hits over 1 2/3 innings.
