Pittsburgh 5, Philadelphia 3

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Adam Hyzdu snapped out of a slump with a home run and double Friday night as the Pittsburgh Pirates posted a 5-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Hyzdu, who had just three hits in his previous 36 at bats, hit a solo homer in the second to give the Pirates a 3-0 lead, then doubled in a two-run seventh.

The Phillies tied the contest on Pat Burrell's RBI single in the third and Jimmy Rollins' two-run homer in the fourth.

After Joe Beimel (2-5) got out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth by striking out Bobby Abreu looking, the Pirates took the lead for good in the seventh.

Mike Timlin (4-6) hit Craig Wilson to start the inning and pinch-runner Tony Alvarez moved to third on Hyzdu's double, the only hit in the inning.

Adrian Brown hit a grounder to second, but Wilson beat Marlon Anderson's throw home to put the Pirates ahead. Keith Osik reached on third baseman Placido Polanco's throwing error and Jack Wilson produced another run with a forceout.

Mike Williams recorded the final three outs for his 42nd save.
