Texas 9, Tampa Bay 3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Todd Hollandsworth's two-run shot in the ninth inning extended the Texas Rangers' streak of consecutive games with a home run to 24 Friday night and finished off a 9-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

The Rangers matched the fourth-longest homer streak in major league history, joining the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers. Texas is one game shy of tying the all-time mark, which is shared by the 1941 New York Yankees, the 1994 Detroit Tigers and the 1998 Atlanta Braves.

Hollandsworth and Mike Young drove in three runs apiece for the Rangers, who have won four of their last five games.

Dennys Reyes (3-2) lasted seven-plus innings to match his career high in just his fourth start for Texas since he was acquired from Colorado at the trade deadline. The lefthander gave up three runs and six hits, striking out two and walking two.

Tampa Bay's Aubrey Huff doubled in the first to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.

But starter Travis Harper (5-8) was torched for seven runs and eight hits in just three innings as the Devil Rays' losing streak reached four games.
