PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Joe Roa pitched into the seventh inning and drove in two runs Tuesday night as the Philadelphia Phillies reached .500 for the first time in over four months with a 4-2 victory over the Montreal Expos.
Philadelphia has won six straight and 11 of its last 14 games and reached .500 for the first time since April 11 when it was 5-5.
Roa (3-1) allowed two runs and six hits in six-plus innings. He took a shutout into the seventh before allowing back-to-back solo home runs to Andres Galarraga and Fernando Tatis that cut Philadelphia's lead to 3-2.
Roa departed after surrendering a two-base hit to Orlando Cabrera. He was replaced by Mike Timlin, who got two outs before Dan Plesac came on and struck out Brad Wilkerson to end the inning.
Former starter Terry Adams worked around two walks in the eighth and in the ninth closer Jose Mesa got his 37th save in 46 chances despite putting two runners aboard.
The Phillies took a 1-0 lead when Doug Glanville opened the game with his ninth career leadoff home run. Glanville's homer against Expos starter Masato Yoshii (4-6) marked the 13th straight game the Phillies have homered, one away from the club record set in 1922.
Roa's sacrifice fly in the third made it 2-0 and his two-out single in the sixth gave the Phillies a three-run cushion.
