Brian Giles had three hits and three RBI and Armando Rios slugged his first home run of the season for the Pirates.

Kip Wells (12-11) pitched well enough to become Pittsburgh's first 12-game winner since 1999. The righthander allowed three runs and nine hits in six innings with a strikeout and a walk.

Wilson connected starter Jose Cabrera (5-10) with two out in the third to give the Pirates a 7-2 lead. They blew open the game with a seven-run sixth.

Cabrera was torched for 11 runs -- the most by a Brewers' pitcher since the team moved to the National League -- and 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Milwaukee has lost nine of its last 11 games.
