Tampa Bay 7, Baltimore 3

BALTIMORE, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Randy Winn's infield hit kept alive a seven-run second and Paul Wilson pitched eight strong innings as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays opened a season-high 13-game road trip Monday night with a 7-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Ben Grieve and Chris Gomez hit back-to-back homers with one out in the second, but Orioles starter Travis Driskill (8-6) was one out away from ending the inning when he failed to get his glove down on Winn's grounder.

Carl Crawford and Aubrey Huff followed with singles to make it 3-0 and third baseman Tony Batista's throwing error allowed another run to score. Huff came home on a wild pitch before Steve Cox blasted a full count offering onto Eutaw Street beyond the right field wall for his 15th homer.

It capped the first three-homer inning in team history.

Righthander Wilson (6-8) gave up three runs and five hits with a walk and four strikeouts as he improved to 4-1 against Baltimore this season.

Travis Harper worked around a walk in the ninth in a non-save situation as the Devil Rays extended their lead in the season series to 9-7.
