Tampa Bay 4, Cleveland 3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- A three-run homer by Andy Sheets with two outs in the ninth inning Thursday night lifted the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to a 4-3 triumph over the Cleveland Indians.

Cleveland's Karim Garcia had two more hits and finished the three-game series nine for 11. He snapped a 1-1 tie with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth and the Indians handed the ball to new closer Mark Wohlers to start the bottom of the inning.

But Wohlers (1-3) ran into trouble, allowing one-out base hits to Aubrey Huff and Steve Cox.

Wohlers retired John Flaherty on a flyout, but left a 3-2 pitch up to Sheets, who hit it into the left-center field seats for his fourth homer of the season.

Travis Harper (5-6) got the win despite serving up Garcia's homer. He relieved starter Joe Kennedy, who held the Indians to one run and five hits in eight innings.
