Kansas City 17; San Francisco 14 (OT)

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- An interception by Reggie Stephens set up a 29-yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes 2:25 into overtime Saturday night as the Kansas City Chiefs posted a 17-14 exhibition victory over the

San Francisco 49ers.

Stephens, a third-year cornerback out of Rutgers, intercepted a pass by rookie Brandon Doman at the San Francisco 12. Tynes then provided the winning points on the next play from scrimmage.

Chiefs quarterback Trent Green played just one series, going 4-of-5 for 40 yards, including a four-yard touchdown pass to Dante Hall.

Backup Jonathan Quinn tossed a five-yard TD pass to Josh Roth in the third quarter for Kansas City.

Jeff Garcia connected with Terrell Owens on an electrifying 71-yard scoring strike in the opening quarter for the 49ers, who fell to 0-2 in

the preseason. Owens broke several would-be tackles on the play.

Garcia finished 6-of-8 for 118 yards.

The 49ers also got a five-yard TD pass from Tim Rattay to Cedrick Wilson in the third quarter. Rattay was 10-of-19 for 132 yards and two interceptions.
