HELSINKI, Finland, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Third seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland and fifth-seeded Slovakian Martina Sucha moved into the quarterfinals of the $140,000 Nordea Nordic Light Open Wednesday.
The 23-year-old Schnyder needed three sets for the second straight match as she posted a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Tatiana Perebiynis of the Ukraine in the second round of this Tier IV claycourt event.
Schnyder will face Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova in the quarterfinals.
Sucha, who had a 6-0, 6-0 win in the first round, defeated Germany's Anca Barna, 6-4, 6-4. Sucha won a Tier IV event at Hobart in January and will play Spaniard Gala Leon Garcia in the quarterfinals.
Leon Garcia, who upset second seed Iva Majoli of Croatia in the first round, defeated Aniko Kapros, 6-3, 6-2, Wednesday.
Kuznetsova cruised past Poland's Magdalena Grzybowska, 6-3, 6-0, and sixth-seeded Swede Asa Svensson defeated Hungarian Zsofia Gubacsi, 7-5, 7-5, in the final first-round match.
