SYLVANIA, Ohio, July 14 (UPI) -- Australian Rachel Teske earned her second title of the season Sunday, carding a 5-under-par 66 for a two-shot win over rookie Beth Bauer at the Jamie Farr Classic.
Teske won the PING Banner Health in her first start of the season and this event with a 72-hole total of 14-under-par 270. She began the final round a stroke behind Bauer and countrywoman Karrie Webb.
"I hit the ball solid, like I did yesterday," said the 30-year-old Teske, who earned $150,000. "But I've probably never putted as well as I did today. They were just going in from everywhere."
Bauer shot a 69 and finished second at 12-under 272. Webb tied Laura Diaz for third at 273 with Kelli Kuehne and Amy Fruhwirth at 274.
Three-time champion Se Ri Pak of Korea was among four players at 275. She opened with a 72 before posting three straight sub-70 rounds.
Danielle Ammaccapane also was at 275 after a 62 that matched several tour records. She tied the mark for raw score on a side with a 6-under 28 on the front nine and matched the lowest fourth-round score set by Mi Hyun Kim here last year.
Teske was fortunate just to tee off Thursday after nearly missing her tee time in Wednesday's pro-am after a travel mixup made her late arriving from her home in Florida. On the LPGA Tour, golfers who do not play in the pro-am are disqualified.
"When I won in Evian, I was injured the week before and I didn't think I'd play at all until the last minute. And when I won my first tournament, I didn't think I was going to play that week either," she said.
"So maybe getting here at late is telling me something. Maybe I try too hard with too much time on my hands. I thought about that a little bit today."
This victory was particularly pleasing to Teske, who lost a playoff to Annika Sorenstam here in 2000 despite sinking birdies on the last two holes.
"I played well a couple of years ago, but it's always disappointing when you have a chance to win and you don't," she said. "So today, I really wanted to do one better, and I was just focusing on that."
After bogeying the 10th hole Sunday, Teske rolled in long birdie putts on the next two holes to grab a share of the lead with Bauer, who was playing a group ahead of the Aussie.
Teske had the lead to herself for the first time since the seventh hole when she sank a 15-foot birdie putt at the 15th hole. The lead was two shots when she made an eight-footer at No. 16.
"I was just focused on making birdies myself," she said. "That's what you have to do because there are a lot out there."
Needing an eagle from the fairway at the 18th to have a chance at a playoff, Bauer came within a few feet from the pin with a wedge. She two-putted but finished with four rounds in the 60s for the first time in her career.
"It's definitely one of the highlights of my career so far," the 22-year-old Duke product said. "I had a great week of golf. I played really well. If I maybe would have had a few more putts fall today, I could have won it."
Webb began the day with a share of the lead but was never a factor. She had won 16 of the previous 25 events in which she held at least a share of the lead entering the final round.
