Minnesota 5, Texas 4

MINNEAPOLIS, July 14 (UPI) -- Torii Hunter and David Ortiz hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Sunday as the Minnesota Twins continued their home success by rallying for a 5-4 triumph over the Texas Rangers.

Minnesota trailed, 2-0 and 4-3, before finally rallying against Texas reliever Colby Lewis in the eighth. Alex Rodriguez's second homer of the game -- a two-run shot in the top of the eighth -- gave Texas a 4-3 lead, but the Twins wasted little time moving in front.

Lewis (1-2) took over for Juan Alvarez to start the bottom of the eighth and grooved a 2-2 pitch that Hunter hammered over the center field wall for his 21st homer of the season. Lewis then got ahead of Ortiz, 0-2, but lost the plate and made the 3-2 pitch too good and paid for it.

Ortiz's sixth homer of the season sailed over the wall in center and put the Twins ahead, 5-4. It marked the third time this season that Minnesota has hit back-to-back home runs.

Twins setup man J.C. Romero (5-1), who got the final out in the eighth, notched the win and Eddie Guardado retired the side in order in the ninth for his 28th save.

The Twins took three of the four games in the series and improved to 31-17 at home this season.

Minnesota starter Kyle Lohse allowed two runs -- one earned -- and five hits in seven innings.

Texas starter Dave Burba pitched well, allowing a run and five hits in six-plus innings. The Rangers have dropped five of six and went 3-6 against the Twins this season.
