Charlotte 72, Orlando 67

CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 12 (UPI) -- Allison Feaster's three-pointer with 2:04 remaining snapped a tie Friday night and lifted the Charlotte Sting into second place in the Eastern Conference with a 72-67 victory over the Orlando Miracle.

The Miracle forged a 62-62 tie with 2:31 left on a finger roll by Shannon Johnson, who scored 23 points. Feaster responded with her three-pointer and the Sting did not trail again, making seven of eight free throws down the stretch.

Charlotte's Tonya Edwards hit one of two from the line with 13 seconds to go, making it 70-67. Johnson missed a potential tying three-pointer and Andrea Stinson sank two from the line to seal the win, the Sting's fourth in their last six games.

Feaster scored 19 points and Tammy Sutton-Brown added 18, all 10 of her free-throw opportunities. Charlotte made 33 of 44 from the line while Orlando hit 17 of 24.

Katie Douglas scored 11 points for the Miracle (9-8), which fell a half game behind the Sting into third place in the East. Orlando has dropped four of six.
