CINCINNATI, July 3 (UPI) -- Jeff Bagwell homered twice and drove in five runs as part of a 14-hit Houston attack Wednesday night, carrying the Astros past the Cincinnati Reds, 11-4.
Bagwell went three for five while producing the second multi-homer game of the season and 25th of his career.
Houston scored five times in the third inning to overcome a 1-0 deficit. Craig Biggio bunted for an RBI single and Lance Berkman's sacrifice fly put the Astros ahead. That brought up Bagwell, who crushed a 1-1 offering from Reds starter Chris Reitsma (3-7) over the left field fence.
Biggio's two-run blast capped a four-run fourth inning for a 9-2 advantage. Bagwell added a solo shot, his 14th, in the fifth.
Astros starter Roy Oswalt (9-5) allowed four runs and eight hits in six innings as he struggled in 94-degree heat. But it was enough for Oswalt to improve to 4-0 lifetime against Cincinnati.
