Diamondbacks 1B on 15-day DL

PHOENIX, July 1 (UPI) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks placed oft-injured first baseman Erubiel Durazo on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a strained right oblique muscle.

Durazo has played in only 30 games this season after breaking a bone in his right wrist while swinging the bat in an exhibition game on March 20. He had surgery two days later and didn't join the Diamondbacks until mid-May.

The 27-year-old Durazo is batting .239 with eight home runs and 21 RBI. In his second game of the year, he had three home runs and nine RBI in a 12-9 win over Philadelphia.

Durazo is in his fourth major league season but already has been on the disabled list six times.

Last season, he hit .269 with 12 homers and 38 RBI in 92 games. He also had four hits in 11 at-bats with one RBI in the Diamondbacks' World Series victory over the New York Yankees.

Taking Durazo's roster spot is infielder Alex Cintron, who was recalled from Class AAA Tucson of the Pacific Coast League. He is 12-for-40 with four RBI for the Diamondbacks this season.
