Seattle 2, Cincinnati 0

CINCINNATI, June 19 (UPI) -- Freddy Garcia allowed three hits over eight scoreless innings Wednesday night and the slumping Mike Cameron homered as the Seattle Mariners cruised to a 2-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

It was Cincinnati's third straight loss.

Garcia (10-4) became the third 10-game winner in the American League, joining Boston's Derek Lowe and New York's Mike Mussina. He struck out seven without a walk, retiring the last 12 batters he faced.

The righthander left for a pinch hitter in the ninth, falling three outs shy of his fifth career shutout.

Kazuhiro Sasaki pitched the ninth for his 16th save, working around a single by Ken Griffey Jr. and an error by shortstop Jose Guillen while lowering his ERA to 0.36. That gave Garcia six straight victories in as many starts, equaling the longest winning streak of his career.

Cameron's bat has been very quiet since he equaled a major league record by hitting four homers against the Chicago White Sox on May 2. He had hit just one homer since and came into this game hitless in his last 12 at bats.

But the former Red led off the second with his 11th homer, a shot over the right field fence off Elmer Dessens (4-4).
