Anaheim 8; Los Angeles 4

LOS ANGELES, June 15 (UPI) -- Ramon Ortiz pitched his third complete game of the season Friday night, a four-hitter, as the Anaheim Angels opened the so-called "Freeway Series" with an 8-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ortiz (7-5) surrendered four hits, walked one and struck out eight to improve to 3-0 in his last four starts. He did, however, give up four solo homers, and leads the major leagues with 22 allowed.

Garret Anderson homered and drove in two runs and Tim Salmon had two hits and two RBI for the Angels, who have won nine of their last 12 and took a 14-13 lead in the all-time series against Los Angeles.

Shawn Green belted a pair of home runs and Eric Karros and Alex Cora also homered, but the Dodgers lost for the fourth time in their last 12 contests.

Japanese sensation Kazuhisa Ishii (10-2) had his personal four-game winning streak stopped after giving up six runs and seven hits over a career-low three innings. The rookie southpaw walked four, had two wild pitches, and also hit a batter.
