The Padres overcame a huge game from Devil Rays outfielder Randy Winn, who set a franchise record with four extra-base hits. He hit a solo homer to start the bottom of the first inning and had three doubles.

The game featured five homers, with Tampa Bay's Aubrey Huff connecting for a three-run blast in a four-run first off Bobby Jones (4-4).
