ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 8 (UPI) -- Steve Cox's single in the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday night lifted the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Randy Winn led off with a base hit and took second on an errant throw by Fikac on Jason Conti's bunt. Winn stole third on the first pitch to Cox, who laced the game-winning base hit two pitches later.

Tampa Bay starter Tanyon Sturtze was locked in a pitchers' duel with San Diego's Brett Tomko. Sturtze carried a 2-1 lead into the ninth but allowed a one-out homer to Ron Gant.

Sturtze allowed two runs and seven hits in nine innings. He walked three and struck out four but remained winless in 13 starts this season.

Victor Zambrano (2-4) relieved Sturtze and tossed a hitless 10th for the win.
