DETROIT, June 5 (UPI) -- Derek Lowe tossed six scoreless innings Wednesday night to lower the American League's best ERA and Johnny Damon, Carlos Baerga and Nomar Garciaparra drove in three runs apiece as the Boston Red Sox routed the Detroit Tigers, 11-0.

Lowe (9-2) allowed two singles and a walk. He struck out two and improved to 3-0 with a 1.15 ERA in his career against Detroit.The former closer also ran his scoreless innings streak against the Tigers to 25 1/3.

Lowe continued his march toward an All-Star berth with his fifth win in six starts. He lowered his ERA to 1.81, extended his streak of not allowing a homer to 104 innings and surrendered two runs or fewer for the ninth time in 12 starts.

Chris Haney followed Lowe and allowed three hits over three scoreless innings for the first save of his 11-year career.

Damon had three hits and scored twice, Baerga continued his remarkable resurgence with three more hits and a Garciaparra raised his average to .318 with three singles.

Tigers rookie starter Adam Bernero (1-2) was tagged for nine runs and 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Boston broke on top in the opening inning on doubles by Baerga and Brian Daubach. The Red Sox tacked on four runs in the second.

Jason Varitek singled and scored on Tony Clark's double to right. After a walk to Trot Nixon, Lou Merloni singled to load the bases. Damon, Baerga and Garciaparra followed with run-scoring singles for a 5-0 cushion.

Bernero continued to get hit hard in the third. Shea Hillenbrand and Clark singled and Nixon walked to load the bases. Damon drew a two-out walk that forced home a run and Baerga made it 7-0 with a groundout that scored Clark.

Garciaparra's two-run single capped the inning and gavce Boston a nine-run lead.

Detroit had two aboard with one out in the sixth but Lowe kept his shutout bid alive by getting Damion Easley to bounce into a double play.
