GREEN BAY, Wis., May 31 (UPI) -- Seeking a backup to Ahman Green, the Green Bay Packers Friday signed running back Jason Brookins to a two-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Brookins rushed for 551 yards for the Baltimore Ravens as a rookie last season but became a free agent on May 20 when the team rescinded its "exclusive rights" contract offer.

The 6-2, 235-pound Brookins will compete with third-year players Rondell Mealey and Herbert Goodman, who is playing for the Scottish Claymores in NFL Europe, for the backup role behind Green.
