MIAMI, May 28 (UPI) -- Aaron Boone homered twice, including a two-out shot off reliever Vladimir Nunez in the 11th inning, Tuesday night to pace the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-5 victory over the Florida Marlins.
Boone hit a 2-2 pitch over the fence in left field, completing his third career multi-homer game and evening the Reds' record on their seven-game road trip at 2-2. His first homer, a solo blast off starter Julian Tavarez in the second, gave Cincinnati a 3-0 lead.
Florida fought back from deficits twice, including rallying from a run down in the ninth inning. But the Marlins failed to score a runner from third with no one out in the 10th.
Closer Danny Graves (2-1) got the win despite blowing his fifth save.
Nunez (4-1), the fifth Marlins pitcher, retired the side in order in the 10th before being victimized by Boone's fifth homer.
