Los Angeles 10, Arizona 5

PHOENIX, May 26 (UPI) -- Shawn Green continued his record power surge Saturday night with two homers and six RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers roughed up Rick Helling and the Arizona Diamondbacks, 10-5.

Green became the first major leaguer to hit seven home runs in three games. That brought his total for the week to nine and broke the National League record shared by Ralph Kiner, Ted Kluszewski and Nate Colbert.

Helling (4-5) served the first Green home run on Saturday night and has surrendered 16 homers, tying him with Anaheim's Ramon Ortiz for the major league lead.

Staked to a 1-0 lead, Helling gave up a two-out grand slam to Dave Roberts in the top of the second. Three innings later, Green -- already the 25th player to homer five times in two games -- extended the Dodgers' lead to 7-1 with his 11th home run of the season.

Green's record-setting shot off Eddie Oropesa with two outs in the ninth capped the scoring for the Dodgers.

The offense was more than enough for Los Angeles starter Andy Ashby (4-4), who allowed two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked four, struck out five and improved to 3-0 against Arizona as a Dodger.

Omar Daal replaced Ashby and allowed a hit in 1 1/3 innings. Giovanni Carrara was reached for three runs and four hits in the eighth, forcing closer Eric Gagne to get the final four outs.
