Thrashers re-sign goalie Cassivi

ATLANTA, May 23 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Thrashers Thursday re-signed goaltender Frederic Cassivi, who appeared in his first six NHL games this past season.

The 26-year-old Cassivi, who would have become an unrestricted free agent, spent the 2001-02 season between the NHL and American Hockey League, also playing for the Chicago Wolves and Hershey Bears.

Cassivi went 2-3-0 with a 3.32 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in six games with the Thrashers. His first NHL start and win came March 22 against the New York Rangers. The next night, he stopped 50 shots in a win over Ottawa.
