Ron Hornaday finished third in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo after starting 26th. Jamie McMurray was fourth, followed by series veteran Randy LaJoie.

An accident occurred on lap 166 when 43-year-old Jeff Purvis was hit on the driver side by Greg Biffle. Purvis hit the high wall and bounced down into the line of traffic. Biffle tried to avoid the impact but did not have enough reaction time.

The race was red-flagged to have Purvis extricated from his Chevrolet. He was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. Biffle recuperated in his car for some time before walking to the ambulance.
