DC United 4, MetroStars 2

WASHINGTON, May 18 (UPI) -- Jaime Moreno scored two goals and set up another Saturday to lead D.C. United to a 4-2 MLS triumph over the MetroStars.

The MetroStars got on the board early as Rodrigo Faria converted a penalty kick in the third minute. Darin Lewis broke free down the field, severely testing the United defense. Cutting the ball back inside, Lewis forced Ryan Nelsen to challenge inside the box. Faria coolly took the penalty kick and hammered the ball past Nick Rimando.

The lead did not last long, however, thanks to Moreno. Defender Milton Reyes joined the attack, laying the ball off for Moreno at the top corner of the box in the 16th minute. Moreno cut back to the outside, stranding his defender and setting up a shot that screamed over goalkeeper Tim Howard and hit the top of the net.

In the 62rd minute, the Metros regained the lead off a corner kick. Tab Ramos drove the kick into the center of the box, where former United Mark Lisi's flashing header beat Rimando. The assist was the 50th of Ramos' MLS career.

Petter Villegas, who was involved in the deal that sent Lisi to the MetroStars, returned the favor in the 66th minute with his first goal of the season.

Marco Etcheverry put United in front for the first time in the 72nd minute. Playing the ball wide to Moreno on the left, Etcheverry drifted back to the top of the box for the return pass. Given a bit of space, he sent a high shot off Howard's hands and into the net.

Moreno got his second of the night in the 82nd minute, punishing Howard for letting up a soft rebound.
