Kansas City 6, Cleveland 2

CLEVELAND, May 17 (UPI) -- Paul Byrd allowed two runs in eight innings Friday night to pitch the Kansas City Royals to a 6-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

The win was manager Tony Pena's first since being named on Wednesday.

Byrd (7-2) yielded five hits, allowed four walks and struck out six as he notched his third straight win and second in a row against the Indians. It was Kansas City's second win in nine road games.

Byrd was aided by home runs by Joe Randa, Chuck Knoblauch and Mike Sweeney.

Cleveland starter Chuck Finley (2-5) allowed four runs in just 5 2/3 innings and lost for the third time in his last four starts. The lefthander has not won since April 26.
