Milwaukee 6, Chicago Cubs 4

CHICAGO, May 10 (UPI) -- Jeffrey Hammonds hit the last of three Milwaukee homers, a two-run blast in the seventh inning, as the Brewers rallied from a three-run deficit Friday afternon to defeat the Chicago Cubs, 6-4.

Tyler Houston hit a three-run homer and Richie Sexson added a solo shot for the Brewers, who have won the first two games of the four-game series but have just four wins in their last 17 games.

The Brewers have won just four of 20 road games against the Cubs, and half have come in this series.

Roosevelt Brown had a two-run single in the first for the Cubs, marking the 10th time in the last 11 games that the Brewers allowed runs in the opponents' initial at-bat.

But the Cubs, who squandered a three-run lead on Thursday, failed to put the game away, leaving 15 men on base and wasting the first career four-hit game from Joe Girardi.

One of the Cubs' best chances came in the ninth when they put a pair of runners on base with one out. But pinch hitter Moises Alou and Corey Patterson grounded out to first baseman Sexson, giving Mike DeJean his seventh save.

Ray King (1-1), the third of six Milwaukee pitchers, recorded the final out of the sixth for the win.

Hammonds connected on a 2-2 pitch from Joe Borowski (1-2) in the seventh to score Alex Sanchez, who had singled with two outs.
