Arizona 7; N.Y. Mets 3

PHOENIX, May 3 (UPI) -- Miguel Batista pitched six effective innings Thursday night and Danny Bautista homered as the Arizona Diamondbacks ended the New York Mets' six-game winning streak with a 7-3 victory.

Arizona is off to a strong start this season with Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling combining for 11 of its 17 wins, but the Diamondbacks needed a victory to avoid being swept for the first time this season at home.

Batista (2-1) surrendered three runs and six hits, walked two and struck out three.

Byung-Hyun Kim gave up one hit in two scoreless innings for his sixth save.

The game was tied at 3-3 when Bautista led off the fifth with a single off Mets starter Shawn Estes (1-3). Luis Gonzalez grounded out, moving Bautista to second, and Gregg Colbrunn put Arizona ahead for good with an RBI single.

Steve Finley struck out but Junior Spivey broke out of an 0-for-18 slump with an RBI triple for a 5-3 lead.

Estes allowed five runs and eight hits in five innings. Six days ago, he tossed a one-hitter in a 1-0 victory over Milwaukee.
