New York 7, Seattle 1

SEATTLE, April 27 (UPI) -- Roger Clemens allowed a run and six hits over eight innings Friday night and Robin Ventura went three for three, including a home run, as the New York Yankees rolled past the Seattle Mariners, 7-1.

Clemens (3-2) allowed five singles, a double and two walks. He struck out four en route to career win No. 283, tying him with current Yankee broadcaster Jim Kaat for 26th place on the all-time list.

Of those 283 wins, 22 have come against the Mariners -- a team that has never been in Clemens' division. The 39-year-old Clemens is 22-11 all time against Seattle and no pitcher has beaten the Mariners more times.

Seattle starter James Baldwin (2-1) was hit hard, allowing seven runs and 13 hits in 4 2/3 innings. Joel Pineiro followed with 3 1/3 scoreless innings but the Mariners were unable to rally and fell to 7-6 at home.

Seattle is 10-0 on the road.
