Bret Boone had an RBI single to forge a 2-2 tie against A's starter Cory Lidle (0-3) in the fifth inning before the game was delayed 81 minutes.

Cameron was the first hitter after the delay and plated Jeff Cirillo and Boone with his double off Oakland reliever Chad Bradford. Ruben Sierra followed with an RBI single and Jose Guillen added a sacrifice fly to give Seattle a 6-2 cushion.

Joel Pineiro (1-0) took over for Mariners starter Freddy Garcia after the delay and pitched two scoreless innings to record the victory.

The game was delayed a second time before the Athletics came to bat in the seventh and officially was rained out 72 minutes later.
