ARLINGTON, Texas, April 14 (UPI) -- Seattle overcame a triple play and a pair of long home runs by Alex Rodriguez by scoring eight times over the final three innings to complete a three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers with a 9-7 victory.
The Mariners improved to 7-0 away from Safeco Field this season and have taken six straight games in Texas. Last season, Seattle set an American League record with 59 road victories.
Shigetoshi Hasegawa (2-0) allowed two hits over 1 2/3 scoreless innings and Kazuhiro Sasaki retired the final four batters to record his third save.
Rudy Seanez (0-2) took the loss as Texas suffered another brutal performance by its bullpen. After starter Kenny Rogers allowed a run over six innings, Steve Woodard was tagged for three runs without retiring a batter, and Dan Miceli recorded just one out and surrendered three runs.
Seanez gave up two runs -- one earned -- in 1 1/3 innings.
Rogers began the fourth triple play in Rangers' history when he fielded a comebacker and fired to second for a forceout. Ruben Sierra tried to score from third and was caught in a rundown and tagged out by Rogers, who threw to second to nail the batter, Ron Wright, who was making his major league debut.
It was the first triple play in the major leagues this season.
