SAN FRANCISCO, April 13 (UPI) -- After umpire Rick Reed made a rare reversal of a call Friday night, Barry Bonds capitalized with his 573rd career homer, a three-run blast that led the San Francisco Giants to 5-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Bonds' homer off Milwaukee starter Ben Sheets (1-2) moved him into a tie for sixth-place all time with Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew. Bonds also drew a walk and moved into a tie with Mickey Mantle for sixth all time.
Kurt Ainsworth (1-0) allowed an unearned run and four hits in seven innings and notched his first major league win. He walked just one, struck out three and retired 11 straight batters between the third and sixth innings.
Felix Rodriguez and Tim Worrell tossed a scoreless inning apiece in relief.
Sheets allowed four runs and four hits in six innings. He walked four and struck out six.
