Cincinnati 8, Philadelphia 5

PHILADELPHIA, April 12 (UPI) -- Sean Casey delivered a two-run single to highlight a six-run seventh inning and the Cincinnati Reds got a huge perfromance their bullpen Friday night in an 8-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

On Sunday, the Reds lost Ken Griffey, Jr., their superstar center fielder for three to six weeks with a knee injury. But the Reds have played well since Griffey went down, winning three of four games.

On Friday, the Reds erased a 5-1 deficit, scoring once in the sixth inning before erupting in the seventh against the Philadelphia bullpen.

Casey had the big blow as his hit off Cliff Politte gave the Reds a 7-5 lead. Aaron Boone capped the inning with an RBI double.

Jim Brower (1-0) worked a scoreless inning of relief for the win in a flawless effort by the Reds bullpen. Danny Graves retired the side in order in the ninth for his fourth save.

After Reds starter Chris Reitsma lasted just 2 1/3 innings, five relievers combined to allow five hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings.
